Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Medical Lab Technologist to join our team at the Meridian Medical Center in Tualatin, OR. The position is casual/per diem with responsibilities spanning specimen acceptability, generalist duties across hospital lab departments, and adherence to SOPs to deliver accurate results.

Applicants should have a Bachelor's Degree in Life Science with ASCP or AMT certification, and at least one year of lab experience is preferred.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Science with certification in Medical Technology (ASCP or AMT) preferred.
  • Color vision ability, and attention to detail are essential.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
  • Function as a generalist across hospital laboratory departments.
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental SOPs.
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.

Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
    Minimum Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Science, Medical Technology ASCP or AMT certification
    Preferred Qualifications
    • 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience

    • High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
    • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
    • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
    • Flexibility to work overtime as needed
    • Exceptional customer service
    • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
    • Comfortable working under minimal supervision

    • Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan.
