Job summary

Avamere is seeking a Medication Tech in Bend, Oregon to administer medications and provide direct care to residents within a memory care/assisted living setting. The role supports the RN, maintains accurate med records, and collaborates with nursing staff, families, and healthcare providers.

Shifts are Day 6am-2pm and Swing 2pm-10pm at Arete at Desert Sage Retirement in Bend. Candidates should have prior Medication Tech experience, CPR/First Aid, and EMR documentation familiarity.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Caregiver and Medication Tech in a Memory Care Unit or Assisted Living Facility.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification during employment.
• Must have the ability to obtain a Food Handler's Card.
• Experience in electronic medical records documentation.
• Must be 18 years or older

Responsibilities

• Pass medications according to physician orders, delegated by a licensed nurse.
• Administer medications accurately and timely.
• Record medications administered in the resident's record.
• Notify the pharmacy or family when meds need refilling.

Medication Tech

Status: Full-Time

Schedule: Day 6am-2pm & Swing 2pm-10pm

Location: Arete at Desert Sage Retirement - 1010 NE Purcell Blvd, Bend, OR 97701

The primary role of the Medication Tech is to administer medications and provide direct care to residents.

• Pass medications according to physician orders, delegated by and under the supervision of a licensed nurse and in accordance with facility policy.


• Administer accurately and timely


• Record medications administered in the resident's record


• Notify the pharmacy (or family when applicable) when medications need to be refilled


• Maintain a clean and organized medication cart and medication room


• Monitor and report any/all side effects of medications to the Director of Health Services


• Obtain/provide shift report. Record sufficient information related to medication administration to implement accurate changes to medication orders


• Follow comprehensive care plans related to medication administration based on each resident's needs and their comprehensive assessment as assigned


• Assisting with medical appointments, communicating with healthcare providers, and advocating for the residents' needs


• Observing residents for changes in health, reporting concerns to medical professionals, and monitoring vital signs.


• Document information pertaining to changes in residents' status, personal needs, and communications with outside providers in the electronic medical record


• Complete accident and incident reports in a timely manner and according to facility policy


• Perform delegated nursing services as assigned by the RN


• Participate in in-service education programs as assigned


• Promptly report changes in resident conditions to the Director of Health Services.


• Follow written and oral directions


• Perform all duties assigned in an effective, cooperative, timely and professional manner


• Be responsible for the safety of residents under their supervision


• Work cooperatively with residents, nursing staff, physicians, families, consultant personnel, community agencies, and ancillary service providers


• Assist new employees in following established facility policies and procedures


• Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information


• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor

Requirements

• Experience as a Caregiver and Medication Tech in a Memory Care Unit and or Assisted Living Facility.


• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain active CPR/First Aid Certification during employment.


• Must have the ability to obtain a Food Handler's Card.


• Experience in electronic medical records documentation.


• Must be 18 years or older
