Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; enrollment in RN program.
• Continue enrollment in accredited RN program.
• Complete Nursing Fundamentals course.
• Validate nursing skills per duties and responsibilities.
• Maintain good academic standing in the nursing program.

Responsibilities

• Collect, report and document patient data accurately per policy; perform tests such as blood draws or sugar checks.
• Communicate patient responses to care to the RN promptly.
• Assist with unit orientation and education for students and staff; respond to requests timely.
• Make hourly rounds with the nurse for fluids, toileting and maintain a clean area.
• Prioritize safety and keep information updated; meet competency requirements.
• Prepare for performance evaluations by submitting skills and attendance docs.
• Follow health standards on risk, safety and infection control; may enter medication areas.
• Demonstrate knowledge and use of hospital computer systems including the Care Board.
• Adhere to professional standards and regulations ensuring safety and quality care.
• Maintain current unit and hospital communications via multiple channels.
• Follow Standardized Procedures with supervision by RN for catheter and NG tube care.
