Job summary

QuarterLine is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Med/Surg unit at Madigan Army Medical Center, JBLM, Tacoma, WA. The role requires caring for high-acuity patients with comprehensive nursing assessment, care planning, and safe medication administration across adult and aging populations.

The position is full-time and on-site at a military medical facility with day/evening/night shifts and credentialing requirements including an active RN license and BLS. U.S.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document patient and family history, medical directives, assessments, symptoms, reactions, and progress.
• Assess patients, develop and manage individualized nursing care plans, and evaluate patient responses.
• Administer medications and blood products safely, including IV, IM, oral, subcutaneous, transdermal, and rectal medications.
• Maintain knowledge of medication actions, adverse effects, interactions, and appropriate dosages.
• Monitor and interpret information collected by LVNs and unlicensed personnel and notify medical staff of significant findings.
• Provide patient and family education and serve as a patient advocate.
• Perform direct patient-care activities such as lifting, turning, transporting, ambulating, positioning, hygiene, feeding, and range-of-motion exercises.
• Assist physicians with treatments and examinations and complete patient admissions and discharges.
• Communicate patient status and pertinent information during handoffs and collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
• Participate in patient-care conferences, nursing reports, team/unit meetings, discharge planning, and multidisciplinary care conferences.
