Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina's MUSC Orangeburg 4 West unit is a 40-bed medical/surgical unit serving post-surgical and acutely ill adults. A $20,000 sign-on bonus is offered for full-time night shift RNs.

This position requires strong clinical judgment and compassionate patient care. Responsibilities include nursing assessments, care planning, discharge coordination, and collaboration with physicians and the care team.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree, and a minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse.
• Current South Carolina Board of Nursing licensure or compact state licensure.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers.

Responsibilities

• Documents initial nursing histories, assesses patients’ conditions per policy requirements and develops individual care plans for patients taking into consideration their physical, psycho-social, environmental, cultural, and spiritual needs.
• Assists physicians with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care according to established policies and procedures.
• Evaluates outcomes of patient care, consult with other specialists as required and revises nursing care processes as necessary to obtain optimal patient care.
• Coordinates discharge planning. Monitors and records patients’ condition. Maintains confidentiality. Uses interdisciplinary teaching plans and coordinates diagnostic and therapeutic services.
• Performs charge duties as assigned; orients or mentors new staff; provides first-line customer service response.
