Job summary

Prisma Health in Columbia, SC seeks a Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Tech to support Registered Nurses by delivering routine patient care, assisting with hygiene, feeding, mobility, and daily activities in the Med Surg unit at Baptist Parkridge Hospital.

Candidates should complete a Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant course; HS diploma preferred; prior hospital clerical experience appreciated. Successful completion of unit secretary course within 90 days of hire is required.

Qualifications

• Education: Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Tech, Medical Assistant or Nursing Fundamentals course.
• Experience: Previous nursing assistant, medical assistant or related experience preferred. One year hospital clerical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living including hygiene, bathing, grooming, and oral care.
• Support nutrition and feeding; help with meals and tray setup as directed.
• Assist with ambulation and mobility; use assistive devices and follow fall prevention protocols.
• Assist with toileting needs; help to bathroom, bedside commode, bedpan, or urinal; monitor inputs/outputs.
• Record and report vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, oxygenation) to the RN.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
