Job summary

Mercy Hospital South is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Med Surg 5W in Missouri. New grads are welcome. The role is full-time, 36 hours per week, with dayshift from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, located at Mercy Hospital South in the St. Louis area.

The RN will utilize the nursing process to provide patient care, protect patient rights, coordinate with other departments, and evaluate care effectiveness for diverse medical needs on the Med Surg unit.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current RN license in Missouri or compact license.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association) required or within 30 days of hire.
• Hospital experience preferred depending on unit.

Schedule: Full-Time | 36 hours/week

Shift: Days | 7:00AM-7:30PM

Sign-On Bonus:

• Experienced Nurses: Up to $10,000
• New Graduate Nurses (less than 1 year of experience): Up to $5,000

About the Unit — Med Surg 5W

Med Surg 5W cares for adult medical patients with diagnoses such as small bowel obstructions, respiratory infections, cellulitis, diverticulitis, and pneumonia. This unit provides an excellent environment to strengthen core Med Surg skills, enhance assessment abilities, and manage patients with diverse medical needs.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following:

• Associate Degree in Nursing
• Nursing Diploma
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Licensure: Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.

Experience: Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.

Certifications:

• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: BSN preferred
• Licensure: Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred
• Experience: Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
