Job summary

Roane Medical Center is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for our Medical-Surgical Unit. The role involves delivering nursing care under RN supervision, initiating patient assessments, teaching families, and following established hospital protocols.

The position requires Tennessee LPN licensure and offers full-time hours with day shifts. No prior experience is required, and you will contribute to quality assurance activities while ensuring patient safety and care continuity.

Qualifications

• Licensed by the Tennessee Board of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
• No prior experience required for this Medical-Surgical unit role.
• The LPN/LVN provides nursing care under supervision of an RN.

Responsibilities

• Initiates admission database and history, and with the RN implements patient and family teaching and care needs.
• Performs nursing care tasks in accordance with the nursing plan of care and medical orders under RN direction.
• Observes and reports changes in patient conditions to the RN Team Leader.
• Documents interventions and patient responses in a timely, concise manner.
• Participates in unit quality assurance activities and patient care conferences as requested.
• Demonstrates infection control principles and collaborates to ensure patient safety.
• Assists in orienting new staff and students to unit routines.
• Administers IV venipuncture and parenteral fluids per hospital protocol.
• Follows safety standards and completes required education annually.
