Job summary

Beloit Health System is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator for the Medical Surgical Unit at Beloit Memorial Hospital. The role involves receptionist duties, clerical tasks, and monitoring patient information to support nurses and physicians.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, typing 20 wpm, basic EKG knowledge, and strong communication skills. 2nd shift, 2:45 PM–11:15 PM, 24 hours per week, benefits eligible.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent education required.
• Requires typing skills of 20 wpm and computer skills.
• Needs basic EKG course completion and/or 85%+ on BMH EKG exam within six months of hire.
• Must be able to work independently and remain calm in emergencies.
• Excellent communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Answers and directs calls from patients, family members, physicians, and ancillary departments.
• Monitors patient status and relays changes to RN staff.
• Maintains patient charts and ensures accuracy of information.
• Monitors electronic medical records for physician orders and notifies physicians as needed.
• Provides receptionist duties and assists with clerical tasks.
• Assists with ordering supplies and coordinating with departments.
• Demonstrates flexibility in daily schedule and duties.
• Performs cardiac monitoring as needed and reports changes.
• Supports nursing staff to ensure patient and family needs are met.
