Job summary

Essentia Health in Duluth, Minnesota is seeking a compassionate Nursing Assistant to join the Med/Surg Float Pool at St Mary's Medical Center. Under RN supervision, you will provide direct patient care and support the needs of patients.

This 0.4 FTE role requires 32 hours biweekly, weekend rotation, rotating 8-hour shifts (6:00am-2:30pm, 2:00pm-10:30pm, 10pm-6:30am) with holidays and union involvement; compensation ranges $17.39–$22.45 per hour, plus comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Six months of nursing assistant experience or equivalent.
• Completion of one nursing program clinical rotations.
• Enrollment in the Essentia Health Foundation course within 30 days.
• Completion of a recognized nurse aide training program.
• Current NA registry registration.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal hygiene care and assist with nutritional needs.
• Provide comfort care and other assistance.
• Safely transfer patients.
• Take vital signs and document findings.
• Report changes in patient condition to the RN promptly.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment to promote healing.

Education

Nursing assistant experience (minimum 6 months)

Clinical rotations in accredited nursing program

Enrollment in Essentia Health Nursing Assistant Foundation Course within 30 days of hire

Completion of recognized nurse aide training program

Current registration on state NA registry
