Job summary

Bon Secours is seeking a Lead RN/Charge Nurse to coordinate patient care on a Mary Immaculate Hospital unit in Newport News. You will work with the Clinical Manager to align nursing practice with policy, promote efficiency, and ensure top quality patient experiences.

The role requires an RN license, BSN preferred, and prior leadership or charge nurse experience. The position supports teamwork, patient safety, and continuous improvement within a faith-based health system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Nursing (preferred).
• Current RN license in state of practice or covered by compact.
• BLS Basic Life Support preferred on hire; must obtain prior to patient care.
• Certifications for units overseen (e.g., PALS, ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, NRP, NB Certification) as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates patient care on a designated unit.
• Collaborates with the Clinical Manager to optimize care delivery and staffing.
• Oversees unit operations in the absence of the unit leader and guides staff.
• Communicates care plans effectively with patients and families.
• Facilitates safe patient placement, admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Mentors staff and supports interprofessional collaboration to improve outcomes.
