Job summary

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is seeking a Clerical Assistant for the Med Surg Unit at Edgewood Hospital to coordinate clerical duties and greet patients. You will answer calls, support nursing staff, and ensure accurate data entry in patient records under licensed supervision.

The role requires a HS diploma or GED, basic computer literacy, and prior clerical experience including phone etiquette and data entry. Epic admissions/discharges/ transfers experience is a plus; schedule includes varied

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior clerical experience including phone etiquette.
• Data entry experience and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and performs clerical duties in Epic related to admission, discharges, and transfers of a patient to assure pertinent data is recorded for present and future use.
• Complete worklist tasks triggered by physician orders or nurse-generated tasks.
• Updates and maintains patient records as prescribed by the hospital and unit policy to allow functional use by nursing and medical staff.
• Functions as information source for medical and nursing staff, patients, and visitors; relays written and verbal communication to the professional staff.
• Performs activities to support the unit such as light housekeeping and participation in performance improvement activities.
• Assists in maintaining supplies on the nursing unit and coordinates items from Central Supply.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
