Filled with advanced equipment and skilled specialists, Cameron is a modern, high-tech facility that provides advanced diagnostics, a variety of specialties and cutting-edge treatment options that are combined with highly personalized and compassionate care.DEPARTMENT: Medical Staff ServicesJOB TITLE: Medical Staff CoordinatorSHIFT: FTE 1.0 (80 hours bi-weekly) Full-TimeBENEFITS: EligibleSummary/ObjectiveThe Medical Staff Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of all activities associated with the credentialing and re-credentialing of physicians and providers. The position will be responsible in ensuring that credentialing policies and procedures meet all organizational, state regulatory and external accreditation requirements. This position also facilitates the peer review investigation, reporting, and polices. This position reports to the Director of Medical Staff Services.Essential FunctionsImplements and monitors procedures and activities related to the credentialing, re-credentialing, and privileging of network providers according to plan specifications.Processes provider applications and re-applications including initial mailing, review, and loading of database into system ensuring high quality standards are maintained.Maintains practitioner credentialing and organizational providers assessment files; maintenance of credentialing database, including adds/changes and terminations, communicates with providers by phone and email regarding credentialing status and information in a timely manner.Prepares provider profile documents for Medical Executive Committee review.Prepares for, attends, and completes minutes for service line meetings (Departments of Medicine, Obstetrics, and Surgery)Ensure compliance with credentialing, delegation, monitoring and oversight requirements of any relevant accreditation, regulatory and other oversight entities.Assist in managing policies and procedures relating to credentialing and peer review.Facilitate peer review investigationsPrepare peer review cases for Medical Executive Committee and work with medical directors to obtain reviews.Provides feedback to reduce errors and improve processes and performance.Communicate, collaborate, and cooperate with internal and external stakeholders.Comply with HIPAA Regulations.Ensures safe care to patients, staff, and visitors; adheres to all Cameron policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsExperienceTwo (2) years of database management in health care environment or a minimum of two (2) years of hospital or managed care credentialing.Skills/CompetenciesKnowledgeable and compliant with all relevant laws, rules regulations and accreditation standards and requirement.Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.Understanding of credentialing Joint Commission and CMS standards.Demonstrated understanding of initial credentialing and re-credentialing practices for medical professionals including primary source verification methods, and compliance monitoringKnowledgeable and compliant with all relevant laws, rules regulations and accreditation standards and requirement.Effective oral and written communication skills.Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office software: Word and Excel.Demonstrates commitment to the core values of Cameron Memorial Community Hospital.EducationAssociates degree in related field; in lieu of Associate degree a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in the healthcare, managed care, or insurance industry.Licenses RequirementsNoneCertificationsCurrent, unrestricted Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) preferred.
