Job summary

Tenet Healthcare is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist/Technician to obtain patient specimens and perform a range of laboratory tests on blood, urine, and body fluids. You will report results according to established policies and procedures and may supervise the laboratory as requested by management. The ideal candidate holds a B.S.

in Medical Technology or an A.A. in MLT or equivalent, with prior experience in a clinical lab and appropriate certification (ASCP/NCA/AMT or state DOH

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or an Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or equivalent education/clinical work experience.
• Minimum experience: prior work as a medical technologist/technician; clinical rotation for students with pending graduation date.
• Certification by the Board of Registry (ASCP), NCA, AMT or state DOH MT/MLT certification required.

• Perform laboratory tests on blood, urine, body fluids, feces.
• Report test results according to policies and procedures.
• Supervise and operate the laboratory if requested by the laboratory manager.

Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor, obtains patient specimens, performs laboratory tests on blood, urine, body fluids, feces, and reports test results according to prescribed laboratory policies and procedures. Responsible for the supervision and operation of the laboratory if so requested by the laboratory manager and performs any other task necessary to maintain the proper functioning of the department and the hospital.

Education:

Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or an Associate Degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician or equivalent education/clinical work experience.

Experience:

Minimum Experience: Previous experience as a medical technologist/technician preferred. Clinical rotation experience will be considered for students who have pending graduation date.

Certifications:

Required Certification: Certification by the Board of Registry (ASCP), NCA, AMT or certification accepted by the STATE DOH as an MT/MLT required.
