Job summary

Diamond Medical Laboratories in Owings Mills, MD seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Technologist to perform clinical laboratory testing across sections, receiving specimens and reporting results with accuracy.

You will organize work to meet deadlines, maintain rigorous records, perform quality control and preventative maintenance, and collaborate with nurses and facility staff to resolve issues and call out critical results.

Qualifications

• Completion of an Associates / Bachelors degree in a related science or an accredited program in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Technician program or a combination of education and experience.
• Nationally recognized certification at the technologist level or 2 years of MLT experience.
• Must meet federal and state requirements to perform moderate complexity testing. ASCP certification preferred.

Job description

The Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Technologist performs clinical laboratory testing in various sections of the Laboratory. A MLT/MT receives specimens, performs clinical laboratory tests by standardized procedures, understands method principles; performs quality control and preventative maintenance; and interprets results as to accuracy, acceptability and critical limits. The Technologist works independently, organizing work to meet established deadlines and records all data obtained. The Technologist interacts with nurses and staff of nursing facilities and other clients, calling critical results and resolving any issues.

Education & Training: Completion of a Associates / Bachelors degree in a related science or an accredited program in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Technician program or a combination of education and experience along with a nationally recognized certification at the technologist level or 2 years of MLT experience. Military qualifications/training will be reviewed on a case by case basis. In addition to the above, individuals must meet federal and state requirements to perform moderate complexity testing. ASCP certification preferred.
