Job summary

West Side Federation for Senior & Supportive Housing (WSFSSH) is seeking a Medication / Personal Care Aide (MPCA) to provide hands-on care and support safe medication administration for older adults in a nonprofit housing setting. The role reports to Clinical Coordinator and is onsite, full-time, with a 35-hour week.

Responsibilities include following care plans, documenting accurately, and maintaining dignity and independence for residents while adhering to HIPAA and safety policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Successful completion of a state-approved Medication Aide training program and competency evaluation.
• Preferred PCA/HHA certification or equivalent training.
• CPR/First Aid certification required or obtainable within timeframe.
• Minimum 2 years of personal care or medication assistance experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with self-administration of routine medications as permitted by state regulations and policy.
• Follow the rights of medication administration and infection control practices.
• Support pharmacy coordination tasks such as deliveries and refills.
• Observe and report changes in resident condition and vital signs as trained.
• Respond to urgent situations per protocol and escalate as needed.
• Prepare medication area; verify orders/MAR; check expiration and secure storage.
• May assist residents with bathing, toileting, dressing, and oral hygiene.
• Help with eating/feeding following diet orders and safety guidelines.
• Complete service notes, shift logs, and care documentation accurately.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold resident rights.
