Job summary

IFA North Americas is seeking a Mechatronics Repair Technician for the 2nd shift in Summerville, SC. You will perform repairs on complex production machinery, diagnose PLC and CNC systems, and work with machine builders from Germany.

The role requires experience with hydraulic/pneumatic systems, blueprints, and safety standards. Proactive maintenance, PM planning, and spare parts management are part of the duties.

Qualifications

• Licensed journeyman machine repairman or AS Mechatronics.
• PLC experience and ability to read blueprints, hydraulic/pneumatic schematics.
• Familiar with local machinery codes and standards.
• Basic math, spatial geometry, and trigonometry knowledge.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs on mechanical, electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Diagnose and correct PLC & CNC (Siemens) controlled machinery.
• Support PM planning and spare parts management.
• Adhere to safety procedures (LOTO) and ISO 14001/IATF16949 commitments.
• Collaborate with machine builders and German colleagues.
• Read and interpret machine drawings and schematics.
• Maintain and improve production processes and maintenance tasks.

Mechatronics Repair Technician - 2nd shift

Job Summary

General responsibility for the maintenance and repair of complex production machinery and equipment. Includes diagnosis, troubleshooting, breakdown, preventative and predictive measures.

Essential Functions

• Complete repairs on mechanical, electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems/components
• Diagnose and correct problems with PLC & CNC (Siemens) controlled machinery
• Maintain and repair a variety of production processes that include welding, balancing and assembly machines.
• Work in coordination with representatives from various machine builders and colleagues from Germany
• Interpret and understand machine drawings and schematics
• Assist in development of PM plans
• Assist in management of spare parts inventories
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance tasks as required
• Follow strict safety procedures including LOTO
• Use various measurement equipment in connection with job duties
• Perform other duties as required and assigned

Education

• Certified as a licensed or journeyman machine repairman, AS Mechatronics, or equivalent experience

Experience

• PLC Experience
• Ability to read blueprints, fluid power and electrical schematics
• Familiar with local machinery codes and standards
• Basic math skills including addition, subtractions, multiplication, and division
• Basic knowledge of spatial geometry and trigonometry

Specific Skills

• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software

Preferred Skills

• Cognex vision systems, Keyence sensors and lasers, Fanuc robotics and Promess measuring technology.
• Ability to read and speak German

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to walk/move about a 500,000 sq ft manufacturing facility
• Must be able to stand/walk/move about specific work area
• Must be able to bend/reach/twist/stoop
• Must be able to lift up to 30lbs on a frequent basis
• Must be able to lift over 30lbs on an infrequent basis
• Must be able to sit at a work station
• Must be able to work and operate a computer terminal
• Vision is required to analyze and process work; and to work on computer terminal/machine centers, etc.
• Hearing is essential for safety reasons; and to communicate with employees, supervisors, managers, vendors, suppliers and customers via conversation, group meetings, and/or phone conferences
• Ability and willingness to travel domestically/international as required
