Job description

Job Title: Mechatronics Manufacturing Assistance Instructor II

Agency: Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service

Location: Brownsville, Texas

Job Type: Staff / Full-Time Position

Proposed Minimum Salary: $6,250 per month

Responsibilities
  • Deliver high‑quality training in Mechatronics systems for the RAMI/TRAIN and COAST projects.
  • Prepare curriculum and instructional materials, incorporating adult learning theories and diverse media.
  • Coordinate training schedules, participant registration, logistics, and data collection.
  • Provide instructional and technical assistance support (≈80%) including classroom facilitation, learner assessment, and motivation.
  • Collaborate with program staff and external partners (≈10%) for curriculum development, marketing, and program updates.
  • Perform fiscal and administrative duties (≈10%) such as attendance rosters, evaluations, and expense reporting.
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, customers, and internal staff.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 5 years of hands‑on experience with Mechatronics systems.
  • Minimum 1 year of adult education or training experience in Mechatronics operation principles.
  • Equivalent qualifications: associate’s degree with 7 years hands‑on experience, or high school diploma/GED with 9 years hands‑on experience.
  • Valid motor‑vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree, knowledge of lean manufacturing or Six Sigma, Spanish proficiency, robotics/sensors/actuators experience, industry certifications (e.g., Siemens, FANUC), CAD/CAM and industrial software knowledge, IoT and Industry4.0 experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Can use computer/keyboard regularly.
  • Can support training delivery for up to 8–10 hours per day.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lb and work in adverse weather conditions during construction.
  • Will travel independently by driving; may require short drives or fly to remote locations.
