Job summary

Semtech seeks an experienced engineer to co-develop force sensing and haptics actuator modules with mechanical, electrical, and software teams in San Jose. You will push designs from concept to mass production and collaborate across OEMs for next-gen products like laptops and smart surfaces.

Responsibilities include FEA/EM simulations, DFMs, and testing, with travel to manufacturing partners and customers worldwide. Training will be provided for advanced simulations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience designing real-world electro-mechanical products.
• Ability to translate customer input into engineering designs throughout development.
• Experience with CNC machining, injection molding, 3D printing, sheet metal stamping, and assembly.
• Strong 3D CAD skills and mechanical drawing.
• Familiarity with DFM and reliability testing.
• Experience with electromagnetic actuators and sensors is a plus.
• Experience with EM simulation tools (COMSOL) is a plus.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Develop electro-mechanical designs from concept to fabrication backed by engineering analysis.
• Assist in fabrication, assembly, and testing activities from Proof-of-Concepts to mass production projects.
• Collaborate with business and engineering teams to translate customer input into successful, cutting-edge products.
• Travel to manufacturing partners (domestic and international) to aid production launch.
• Travel to customer locations (domestic and international) to provide technical support.
• Perform finite element analysis (FEA) and electromagnetic simulation and optimization on module designs (training provided).
