Job summary

Semtech is seeking a seasoned electrical/ mechanical/ firmware engineer in San Jose to integrate force sensing products into customer devices. You will work with OEMs across laptops, mobile devices, automotive controls and displays, from concept through mass production.

You will design schematics and PCBs, debug hardware, manage vendors, and perform bench verification with the R&D team. Travel to Asia/Europe may be required; strong cross-functional collaboration is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years electronic design from concept to mass production.

• Proficiency with schematic capture/PCB layout tools (Altium/Cadence/Siemens).
• Experience with analog/mixed-signal circuitry.
• Experience with ADCs, sensors, embedded design or firmware; I2C/SPI interfaces.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
• Familiar with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, digital analyzer, multimeter).
• Experience in technical writing for electronics (datasheets, app notes).
• MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint).
• Soft skills: self-motivated, detail-oriented, strong communication, team player.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical/electrical/software integration; build proofs-of-concept and prototypes; PCB layout and fabrication; source components; hardware bring-up; PCB vendors management.
• Provide multidisciplinary hardware/firmware/mechanical support to customers from concept to mass production.
• Collaborate with R&D on sensor/system-level test and characterization; perform failure analyses.
• Create technical documentation: datasheets, app notes, design guides, white papers.
• Gather customer feedback with marketing/R&D to drive improvements and roadmaps.
• Stay current with consumer electronics developments and industry trends.
