Responsibilities
  • Support R&D activities for capital equipment, instruments, disposables, and related medical-device subsystems by contributing mechanical test expertise.
  • Collaborate with engineers to design, build, and refine prototypes that meet functional and performance requirements.
  • Develop and implement mechanical test fixtures, test equipment setups, and test methods to validate product designs and subsystems.
  • Plan, execute, and document complex engineering tests, ensuring that test development and execution follow defined procedures and quality standards.
  • Create and maintain clear, accurate, and complete design and test documentation, including test plans, protocols, reports, and related records.
  • Provide practical feedback on manufacturability, including considerations for mechanical processes, machining, and manufacturing engineering requirements.
  • Evaluate and report on fit, function, tolerancing, and design robustness to help improve product reliability and performance.
  • Support product development activities by participating in test planning, test execution, and data analysis for mechanical systems and components.
  • Work with mechanical test equipment and flow-related test setups to assess performance and verify compliance with design specifications.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of test development practices, documentation standards, and engineering support processes.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and product development teams to ensure alignment between design intent and test outcomes.
Essential Skills
  • Demonstrated experience with complex test development and execution for mechanical systems and products.
  • Strong documentation practices, with the ability to create, organize, and maintain detailed engineering and test records.

  • Experience in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related engineering disciplines.
  • Ability to develop and execute test plans, including defining test methods, setting up equipment, and recording and interpreting results.
  • Associate degree, technical diploma, or certificate in mechanical engineering technology, manufacturing engineering technology, electromechanical technology, machining, or a related technical discipline; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
  • Approximately 3+ years of relevant experience as an engineering technician, mechanical technician, prototype technician, or in an equivalent hands-on technical role (preferred).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working with test equipment and test development in a product development or engineering support environment.
  • Familiarity with mechanical processes, manufacturing workflows, and product development life cycles.
  • Experience in medical devices or another regulated industry with exposure to GMP, ISO, FDA, or comparable quality-system requirements (preferred).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and cross-functional teams in support of test engineering and product development activities.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing, documentation, and problem-solving.
  • Comfort working with prototypes, disposables, and mechanical subsystems in a development setting.
