Job summary

TPI Global Solutions is seeking a hands-on Mechanic for our natural gas compression station supporting a hybrid field/office role in New York. You will troubleshoot and maintain compressors, turbines, engines, and related rotating equipment.

The position involves coordinating with schedulers, working with subcontractors, and participating in a monthly on-call rotation with overtime paid for on-call incidents.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 2+ years direct maintenance experience.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting ability.
• Experience with rotating equipment (engines, compressors, turbines).
• Experience with Caterpillar compressors, Morse 100 engines, or T60 turbines is highly desirable.
• Strong work ethic and good people/communication skills.
• Ability to stay calm and troubleshoot independently when equipment goes down.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting role supporting compressors, turbines, engines, valves, and other rotating equipment.
• Split between field and office work.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and schedulers to follow a 3-month outlook.
• On-call rotation is approximately 1 week per month; on-call OT paid.
• Maintain and troubleshoot compressor station mechanical equipment.
• Respond to outages and alarms, reset equipment and determine next steps.
• Maintain air supply for operating equipment and support valve/turbine maintenance.
• Work with contractors performing maintenance at the facility.
• Complete work orders and coordinate maintenance timelines.

Department: supports a natural gas compressor station with 5 turbines used to move natural gas to the next compressor station.

Facility itself is approximately 5–10 acres, with the team supporting roughly 100 acres and 50 miles of pipeline in different directions.

May occasionally support other locations within approximately 50–75 miles.

Position is a backfill for a mechanic retiring at the end of October.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting role supporting compressors, turbines, engines, valves, and other rotating equipment.
• Split between field and office work.
• Works with multiple subcontractors and coordinates with schedulers/planners who provide schedules approximately 3 months out.
• On-call rotation is approximately 1 week per month.
• May receive calls during the day or overnight to troubleshoot equipment outages/alarms.
• Hourly position; on-call work is paid OT.
• Maintain and troubleshoot compressor station mechanical equipment.
• Respond to equipment outages, alarms, and units going offline.
• Investigate issues, reset equipment, and determine appropriate next steps.
• Maintain compressors that provide air to operating equipment.
• Support maintenance of natural gas valves and turbines.
• Work with subcontractors performing maintenance at the facility.
• Complete work orders and coordinate maintenance timelines.
• Work from schedules/maintenance plans provided by planners and schedulers.
