Job summary

HKA Enterprises in Groton, CT, is seeking a skilled Instrumentation & Calibration Technician to lead complex mechanical repairs, calibrations, and preventive maintenance in a GMP pharmaceutical setting.

You will install and calibrate process instrumentation, troubleshoot automation systems, and help train staff, with an emphasis on safety, documentation, and compliance with NIST traceability standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma with 2+ years of experience in equipment, electrical, and/or instrumentation maintenance.
  • Familiarity with GMP fundamentals.
  • Strong computer skills – Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs; willingness to wear PPE and work near hazardous materials.
  • Flexibility to work outside standard day shift hours and on weekends as needed.
  • Associate's degree in a science or technical discipline (nice to have).
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical cGMP manufacturing environment (nice to have).
  • Experience with Delta V Production Control System (nice to have).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex mechanical repairs and perform instrument calibrations in compliance with site policies and NIST traceability standards.
  • Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance on production and utility equipment.
  • Install, specify, and calibrate process instrumentation and laboratory devices.
  • Troubleshoot and repair instrumentation and automation systems.
  • Execute and close on-demand and scheduled work orders.
  • Perform lockout/tagout procedures supporting facility upgrades and routine maintenance.
  • Read and interpret equipment schematics, logic diagrams, and engineering drawings.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of calibration and maintenance activities.
  • Participate in training other technicians on new equipment and upgrades.
  • Assist operational staff with equipment troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Participate in department and safety meetings; commit to continuous skill development.
