Job summary

Wilsonart is seeking a Mechanical Technician 1 to maintain and repair plant equipment under supervision in Fletcher, NC. You will perform mechanical and preventive maintenance and support production quality standards.

Qualifications

Perform other tasks as required.**ESSENTAIL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*** Perform mechanical repairs on equipment breakdowns as needed.* Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment and / or machinery in assigned area of concentration* Modify new and existing equipment to meet the needs of production and quality standards* Install new equipment in plant as required* Perform duties in the maintenance: fabricating, welding, repairing and rebuilding parts (pumps, cylinders, etc.)* Follow lockout / tagout procedures* Maintain and keep accurate records and documentation as required* Regular attendance required* Maintain a clean work environment* Assist maintenance personnel in other work areas as needed* Attend department safety and quality meetings* Follow department and company safety guidelines* Participate in Lean initiativesPerforms other position appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional and courteous manner.**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES*** Knowledge of safety standards applicable to the department and other pertinent rules / regulations governing work standards.* Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic technology.* Knowledge of hazardous materials and safe handling procedures.* Ability to read blueprints.* Ability to use a welder and cutting torch.**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS****EDUCATION:**High School Diploma or equivalent**EXPERIENCE:**6 months of mechanical industrial maintenance work experience or 1 year of Maintenance education required.**WORKING CONDITIONS****PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:**Heavy work. Tasks involves pushing / pulling, lifting, and handling material up to 100 pounds plus standing and walking during a minimum twelve hour shift.**ENVIRONMENT: Select one from the drop down**Located in an indoor area with frequent exposure to mild physical discomfort from dust, fumes, temperature extremes, loud noises and bright lights.
