Independence Corrugated, located in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, is seeking a Mechanical Technician to troubleshoot, install, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on corrugated equipment at our Oak Creek facility.

The role requires reading and following factory manuals and electrical prints, strong mechanical skills across hydraulics, pneumatics, drives, and control systems, and willingness to work varied shifts.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Prior work experience in the corrugated industry.
  • Able to read factory technical manuals and electrical prints.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Practice safe work habits at all times.
  • Troubleshoot, install, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on industrial corrugated equipment.
  • Follow CMMS maintenance procedures and complete paperwork.
  • Diagnose malfunctions and locate causes of breakdowns with test equipment.
  • Ensure equipment operates at available capacity and speed.
  • Work all shifts and on short notice as needed.

Independence Corrugated , an affiliate of Schwarz Partners is currently seeking aMechanical Technician to support our Oak Creek, WI facility. As a Maintenance Technician, you will troubleshoot, install, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on our industrial corrugated equipment and machinery.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION:

  • Practice safe work habits at all times.
  • Demonstrate ability to parallel all rolls, make all required settings and adjustments for optimum equipment performance to manufacture quality products.
  • Demonstrate ability to teach other maintenance classifications in all qualification requirements and proper maintenance procedures.
  • Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot programmable controllers and troubleshoot and replace all A/C and D/C drives and their control systems use.
  • Demonstrate ability to use all aspects of the maintenance software program CMMS. Complete all paperwork neatly, correctly, and in accordance with Company guidelines.
  • Follow up all work in order to insure repairs and work are performed properly.
  • Maximize the utilization of equipment by maintaining the machinery to run at available capacity and speed.
  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanicals equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, production machines, following diagrams, sketches, operation manual’s and engineering instructions and specifications.
  • Willingly work all necessary hours and shifts and on short notice.
  • Diagnose malfunctions systems, apparatus and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by management.
  • Understanding of PLC, relay logic controls, AC/DC drives, hydraulics, pneumatic, boiler systems and controls, steam systems, machining, welding, automation and fabrication.
  • Preform physically demanding task, such as moving and lifting heavy objects.
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds and roofs to install maintain or maintain or repair electrical wiring and equipment and fixtures.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPEREINCE:

  • High school diploma or GED.

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPEREINCE:

  • Prior work experience in the corrugated industry

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Able to read and follow instructions on factory technical manuals and electrical prints and drawings.
  • Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation, preferred.
  • Product layouts and production specification, preferred.
  • Quality standards, preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Employee is regularly required to walk and talk and hear, stand, and sit. Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Preform physically demanding task, such as moving and lifting heavy objects.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
