Overview
Phillips Safety Products is seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join our optical lab and lens manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of manufacturing equipment. Our facility utilizes advanced CNC and robotic ophthalmic lens processing machines, as well as some older legacy equipment.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and technical aptitude, with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve issues to minimize downtime. Experience in optical lens processing or the eyewear industry is a plus, but not required—we are willing to provide training for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on CNC, robotic, and other manufacturing equipment.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues on production machinery.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs.
- Work with production teams to minimize equipment downtime and ensure smooth operations.
- Assist with equipment upgrades, installations, and calibration as needed.
- Ensure a safe working environment by following company safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a mechanical technician, maintenance mechanic, or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong troubleshooting and repair skills in mechanical and/or electrical systems.
- Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Familiarity with CNC machinery and robotic systems is highly desirable.
- Optical or ophthalmic industry experience is a plus, but not required.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently.
