Project Overview:
This project, led by a large defense company in partnership with USPS, focuses on a major postal redesign initiative to modernize and consolidate USPS operations. The goal is to reduce the number of distribution plants from 275 to 70, improving efficiency by installing larger-scale package sorters. The work takes place at the USPS Central Repair Facility in Kansas City (due to space constraints in Topeka), where technicians tear down machines to their frames, rebuild them, and install new sorting systems. This year, the team aims to complete 12 machines, with a target of 77 machines next year, as part of a broader effort to enhance USPS’s package processing capabilities.
