Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an experienced aerospace assembler to fabricate, assemble, install, test and checkout mechanical spacecraft assemblies. You will interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to complete space flight systems and support equipment, working across Production and Design teams.

The role requires 1+ year of aerospace assembly experience, operation of machinery/tools, and occasional travel to support programs.

Qualifications

• 1+ year experience in assembly, testing and installation in aerospace.
• Able to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Willingness to travel to support operations.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, test, checkout and inspect mechanical spacecraft assemblies per drawings and specs.
• Operate material handling equipment and tooling as required.
• Travel to support operations identified by program.
• Machine tools usage including drill press, grinders, chop saw and power/hand tools.
• Perform orbital tube welding of propulsion lines.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, materials, procurement and shipping teams on procedural issues.

Summary:

Fabricate, assemble, install, test and checkout mechanical spacecraft assemblies by interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings and specifications, and written assembly, integration and test procedures to complete space flight systems and support equipment.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assemble, install, test, checkout and inspect mechanical spacecraft assemblies by interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings and specifications, and written assembly, integration, and test procedures.
• Operate various materials handling equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lift equipment, flight vehicle and sub‑assembly transportation equipment, truck/tractor trailer combinations and other GSE as required.
• Travel required to support operations identified by program being supported.
• Capable of operating a wide range of machine tools. Included but not limited to, drill press, grinders, chop saw, power, and hand tools.
• Perform orbital tube welding of propulsion lines
• Interfaces and/or works closely with Design and Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials, Procurement and Shipping personnel on procedural issues involving design, methods, tooling, cost, and other areas involved in the control of product quality.

Pay ranges from $22-$50/hr based on experience
