Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; minimum five years mechanical assembly experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Description

Mechanical Assembly Technician is responsible for interpreting blueprints, work instructions, and technical specifications to fabricate or repair aircraft ground support equipment. The technician must possess a strong working knowledge of mechanical assembly techniques, tooling, and company procedures to ensure precise and high-quality builds.


Responsibilities & Duties:


  • Assemble aircraft engine stands and subassemblies in accordance with engineering drawings and sketches.

  • Review drawings and parts lists for accuracy and coordinate with other departments to resolve discrepancies.

  • Inspect completed assemblies to verify conformance to specifications and quality standards.

  • Perform functional and operational checks of assembled products.

  • Ensure all assembly work meets AGSE quality and safety standards.

  • Accomplish assigned tasks with minimal supervision.

  • Identify and resolve assembly or documentation issues, reporting non-conformance to leads or supervisors.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment following 5S/6S principles.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Requirements

Skills and Qualifications:


  • Proven experience reading and interpreting blueprints, technical specifications, and work instructions.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical assembly principles and tooling techniques.

  • Proficiency in operating hand and power tools (grinders, drills, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.).

  • Ability to perform thread tapping, chasing, and hydraulic installations and troubleshooting.

  • Experience operating large overhead cranes and forklifts.

  • Ability to lift between 20–40 lbs and stand for prolonged periods.

  • Familiarity with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.

  • Understanding of 5S/6S manufacturing principles.

  • Strong attention to detail and quality.

  • Dependable, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple builds concurrently.

  • Good verbal communication and teamwork skills.

  • Basic computer proficiency.


Education & Experience:


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

  • Required: A minimum of five years related experience and/or training in mechanical assembly; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Preferred minimum of two years working experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Dependable and self-motivated, ability to manage several builds concurrently

  • Must have good verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge/experience


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds.
