Job summary

R. J. Corman Railroad Group, LLC is seeking Mechanical Team Members to join our Williston, ND operation. You will perform railcar inspections, repairs, and documentation to ensure compliance with federal regulations.

Responsibilities include completing inspections per CFR parts, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring safe, efficient work practices in a fast-paced 12-hour shift environment. QMI training will be provided.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Inspect and repair railcars, document work for verification.

• Record material usage and ensure paperwork is correct.
• Keep vehicles and shop area clean and safe.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Job description

R. J. Corman is currently seeking Mechanical Team Members (QMI) to join our team based out of Williston, ND.

Responsibilities

• Railcar inspections and repairs must be documented for verification and to ensure the work is being done correctly and in a timely manner.
• Complete railcar inspections, including extended haul inspections, in compliance with 49 CFR Parts 215, 218, 224, 231, and 232.
• Maintain understanding of documenting work performed and recording material usage.
• Ensure all federally required paperwork for railcar repairs is complete and correct.
• Ensure that repair jobs are completed in a timely manner.
• Ensure that vehicles and shops are kept clean and safe.
• Must undergo QMI training.
• Must be proficient in car repair, data entry, and material ordering.
• May require qualification to move locomotives and freight cars. Additional training provided.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Specialized or Technical Knowledge, or Education and Experience:â¯

• Railroad carman experience with extended haul inspections highly desirable.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Good communication and people skills with a demonstrated ability to develop teamwork and work with all levels of personnel.
• Proficiency in car repair, data entry, and material ordering.
• Ability to complete and maintain federally required railcar inspection and repair documentation.
• Willingness to complete QMI training.

Physical Requirements

• Able to perform physically strenuous work.
• Able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
• Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Requires occasional use of a 30 lb. claw bar, requiring application of 50 lbs. of force.
• Requires occasional use of a 10 lb. sledgehammer, requiring application of 75 lbs. of force.
• Able to walk, climb, and maintain balance on equipment, stairs, ladders, uneven terrain, rails, and ballast in a safe manner.
• Able to navigate into confined spaces if necessary.

Environmental Conditions

• Performs duties in outdoor environments, in and around moving locomotives, railcars, vehicles, and equipment.
• Frequent exposure to weather elements.
• Appropriate PPE required.
• Works in a fast-paced railroad environment.
• Position operates on 12-hour shifts in a 24/7, 365-day-per-year operation.
