Job summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) seeks a mechanical engineer to resolve complex engineering problems under general supervision and contribute to the design and integration of platform products.

Responsibilities include using 3D CAD tools (Siemens NX, CREO) to develop solutions, document findings, and present results to staff. DoD security clearance is required; EIT is desirable. Extended hours may be needed.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline and 4+ years with a bachelor or 2+ years with a master.
• General understanding of engineering concepts, principles and theory with applied experience.
• Ability to learn quickly and apply concepts in a dynamic environment and organize work to meet timetables.
• Strong communication, documentation and presentation skills; ability to work independently or in a team.
• Hands-on mechanical engineering knowledge is desirable.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling to generate design solutions.
• Experience with Siemens NX, Teamcenter and Sim-Center is required; CREO & Simulate is highly desired.
• EIT certificate is desirable.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance is required.
• Willingness to work extended hours as required.

Responsibilities

• Supports mechanical engineering and design of integrated systems for platform products.
• Uses 3D CAD tools and data management software to meet design requirements.
• Documents findings and presents results to engineering staff.
• Represents the organization in solving technical issues on projects.
• Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with laws, regulations and company safety practices.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams and customers as needed.
