Job summary

CACI International Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Systems Engineer in Sterling, VA to apply systems and mechanical engineering to develop and sustain hardware systems, meeting functional and performance requirements across the lifecycle.

Responsibilities include requirements decomposition, interface definition, design reviews, and analyses (FMECA/FRACAS/hazard), using SolidWorks, and collaborating with mechanical, electrical, RF, software teams for integration readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in mechanical and/or hardware‑oriented systems engineering.
• Experience with requirements development, decomposition, and design support (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR).
• Experience with mechanical design and analysis tools (SolidWorks, CAD).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance (desirable).
• 5+ years of experience (desired) in mechanical/hardware‑oriented systems engineering.
• Familiarity with MIL‑STD‑31000 and reliability/safety analyses is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Apply mechanical and systems engineering to meet functional and performance requirements across the lifecycle.
• Update engineering documentation to support lifecycle activities and design changes.
• Contribute to architectures addressing operational needs, reliability, safety, and survivability.
• Perform requirements decomposition, interface definition, and support for TRR, SRR, PDR, and CDR.
• Support quality, reliability, and safety assessments (FMECA, FRACAS, hazard analysis).
• Use modeling tools (SolidWorks) for structural, thermal, tolerance, and packaging analyses.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, RF, software, manufacturing, and test teams for integration readiness.
• Participate in design reviews, working groups, and risk/issue resolution.
