In this role, you will apply systems engineering principles and mechanical engineering expertise to develop and sustain mechanical systems—contributing to design updates and lifecycle sustainment that meet customer requirements and mission objectives. You will deliver solutions that satisfy functional and performance needs while maintaining accurate documentation for design updates, configuration changes, and end‐of‐life (EOL) transitions throughout the system lifecycle. This position focuses on hardware‐oriented systems engineering and select R&D activities, including conceptual and detailed design, requirements development, interface definition, and support to quality and reliability analyses (such as FMECA, FRACAS, and hazard analysis). Responsibilities emphasize analysis, design, modeling, documentation, and cross‐functional collaboration rather than hands‐on build or inspection work. The ideal candidate collaborates effectively across mechanical, electrical, RF, and other engineering disciplines, is comfortable in complex technical environments, and is familiar with systems engineering practices and processes.**Responsibilities:**• Apply mechanical and systems engineering expertise to develop solutions that meet functional and performance requirements while supporting efficient production, sustainment, and EOL planning. • Update engineering documentation to support system lifecycle activities and any design changes. • Contribute to system architectures and designs that address operational environments, mission needs, reliability, safety, and survivability. • Perform development‐focused activities such as requirements decomposition, interface definition, and support for TRR, SRR, PDR, and CDR. • Support quality, reliability, and safety assessments—including FMECA, FRACAS, and hazard analysis—ensuring issues are identified, tracked, and resolved. • Use industry‐standard modeling and analysis tools (e.g., SolidWorks) to perform mechanical and system‐level analyses such as structural, thermal, tolerance, and packaging assessments. • Collaborate with cross‐functional teams (mechanical, electrical, RF, software, manufacturing, and test) to ensure design compatibility, integration readiness, and requirements traceability. • Participate in design reviews, technical working groups, and risk/issue resolution activities, providing clear technical rationale and recommendations. • Support R&D and technology maturation efforts by evaluating new concepts, materials, and approaches, and by performing feasibility analyses and prototype‐level design studies.**Qualifications****Required**• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field. • 3+ years of experience in mechanical and/or hardware‐oriented systems engineering. • Demonstrated experience with requirements development, decomposition, and design support (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR). • Experience with mechanical design and analysis tools (SolidWorks, CAD). • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including participation in technical discussions and design reviews.**Desired**• Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance. • 5+ years of experience in mechanical and/or hardware‐oriented systems engineering. • Experience supporting reliability, maintainability, and safety activities (FMECA, FRACAS, hazard analysis). • Familiarity with systems engineering processes and standards. • Familiarity with MIL‐STD‐31000. • Ability to perform trade studies. • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. • Familiarity with RF systems and design considerations.-**What You Can Expect:****A culture of integrity.**At CACI, we place character and innovation at the center of everything we do.
