What You Will Do
  1. Nuclear Facilities Engineer 1 ($92,300 - $151,000): Support the Laboratory's mission by serving as the subject matter expert for nuclear facility electrical, mechanical, and structural engineering matters. Responsibilities include electrical safety, HVAC, power quality, utility systems, renovations, modifications, and structural development within and around the plutonium facility. Perform engineering studies such as short circuit analysis, device coordination, equipment sizing, fault current, arc flash, demolition, and upgrades. Become familiar with pressure safety, leak testing, piping supports, and equipment installation.
  2. Nuclear Facilities Engineer 2 ($101,700 - $168,200): In addition to the above, work alongside other engineers and peers to develop full-system design solutions through mentoring and leadership.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Knowledge of major facility systems (HVAC, compressed air) in commercial, industrial, or nuclear settings.
  • Understanding of design, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshooting experience with mechanical systems.
  • Experience applying codes and standards such as IBC, IEBC, ASHRAE, B31.
  • Ability to perform engineering analysis and calculations.
  • Effective communication skills verbally and in writing.
Additional Requirements for Level 2:
  • Ability to prepare and review technical reports and studies.
  • Experience defining requirements and developing design concepts.
  • Experience with design details, load studies, and specifications, including nuclear safety requirements.
  • Ability to evaluate system health and mentor interns and engineers.
Qualifications

Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university and 2-3 years of practical experience. Advanced degrees are preferred.
