Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer, Manufacturing (Starship) in Hawthorne, CA to lead supplier development for high‑volume, high‑quality rocket parts. The role focuses on NPI of new parts, supplier qualification, and driving improvements across manufacturing and quality systems.

Responsibilities include owning parts from design changes to ramp, leading root-cause analysis, coordinating with procurement, and ensuring on-time delivery within aggressive takt times.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
• 1+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or supplier development
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Experience with supplier quality processes and advanced quality planning is a plus
• Knowledge of GD&T, lean concepts, and statistical methods is preferred

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical point of contact for parts and assemblies, solving manufacturing challenges
• Own the new product introduction of parts including manufacturing method selection and supplier review
• Drive improvements to manufacturability, lead times, and cost
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions at suppliers or SpaceX
• Create and disposition issue tickets in coordination with engineering
• Lead containment activities and coordinate with cross-functional teams
• Identify and vet exceptional suppliers to meet takt times
• Assess supplier processes and drive improvements in quality systems
• Demonstrate technical excellence and proactive problem solving
• Be the primary supply chain contact for assigned parts and defects
