Job summary

CSX Corporation in New Jersey seeks a locomotive maintenance supervisor to lead servicing, light repair, and preventive maintenance within a service center. You will oversee safety, quality, and production, and ensure compliance with FRA and CSX rules while directing a team.

Responsibilities include conducting safety briefings, managing resources, coaching staff, and coordinating with management to maintain locomotive readiness across shifts in a 24/7 operation.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ years of experience; 1+ years supervisory experience in skilled trades, transportation, rail operations, manufacturing or the military.
  • Equivalent minimum qualifications include CSX Mechanical Operations Desk experience.

Job Summary

Leads and directs the execution of servicing, light repair, and preventive maintenance for locomotives within a service center facility. Manages all aspects of safety, quality and production. Manages self and others assertively ensuring compliance with all federal, company, and local rules and regulations.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities
  • Execution and communication of the safety plan outlined by the Department, Shop Management, and Safety Committees.
  • Facilitate thorough safety and job briefings to promote safe practices and proper procedures for completing assigned tasks.
  • Conduct safety observations and operational tests to ensure compliance
  • Eliminate, control, and communicate hazards and safety issues within the shop elevating for resolution as necessary.
  • Manage the servicing, repair, and preventative maintenance of locomotives.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and CSX rules and regulations.
  • Manage manpower and facility resource utilization efficiently and effectively.
  • Coach, develop, and train others to achieve desirable results.
  • Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Less than 1 year of experience
  • 1 or more years of supervisory experience in Skilled trades (building, construction, electrical, mechanical), Transportation, Logistics, Rail Operations, Manufacturing or the Military
Equivalent Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1 or more years of experience in at the CSX Mechanical Operations Desk
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
  • 3 or more years of supervisory experience in Skilled trades (building, construction, electrical, mechanical), Transportation, Logistics, Rail Operations, Manufacturing or the Military
  • Journeyman Mechanic
Knowledge and Skills
  • Regulatory knowledge of Federal Railroad Administration standards
  • Microsoft Office skills
  • Railroad industry knowledge

Job Requirements
  • Different shifts as assigned in a 24 hour/7 days a week operation (incl working weekends)
