Job summary

FORTNA is seeking a mechanical installation lead to manage parcel conveying system installations. You will interface with the mechanical PE, project manager, and customer to plan, layout, and execute installation tasks according to drawings and schedules.

Responsibilities include coordinating with vendors and internal groups, releasing installation/fabrication drawings, tracking materials, ensuring safety, and guiding the crew to meet project milestones.

Qualifications

• Five years of supervisory experience preferably within the conveyor systems industry.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of: Power transmission equipment, Steel fabrication, Microsoft Office.
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD preferred.
• Ability to: Read, understand and apply customer specifications.
• Ability to travel 9 months to 3 years at a time to various locations.

Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for leading the mechanical installation of parcel conveying systems. This requires interfacing with the mechanical PE, project manager, and customer to successfully complete these projects. Must layout, plan, and execute the specific tasks associated with installation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Understand and execute the mechanical installation specific to the project managers planBe familiar with the installation drawingsTrack and stage materialsPlan tasks by crewUnderstand and execute to the scheduleProvide field interface with customer's project representative(s)Project installation planContract change ordersCustomer specifications / standards.
• Provide technical support for vendors, field installation personnel, and engineering subcontractors as related to inquiries
• Communicate project specific information with other MHS departments including project management, purchasing, electrical engineering, field installation and fabrication department.
• Release drawings for installation and fabricationCreate material purchase requestsRelate information regarding changes to scope of work for the project as they occur.
• Maintain project-specific requirements while applying general knowledge of conveying systems, conveying equipment and customer general specifications and standards Be cognizant of areas for professional development, cost reduction, quality improvements and enhanced customer service Check drawings provided by mechanical designers for accuracy and provide feedback for corrections as needed.
• Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
• Perform or assist in directing engineering analysis as determined by project needs in disciplines including structural, mechanical power transmission and fluid power
