Job summary

Linde Inc. in Theodore, AL is seeking a Mechanical Specialist to plan and perform installation, maintenance, overhauls, and inspections of industrial mechanical and rotating equipment including compressors, turbines, pumps, and heat exchangers.

The role requires field and office work with about 30% travel to regional sites. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in industrial maintenance of rotating equipment, strong problem-solving skills, and experience with CMMS and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of experience maintaining mechanical and rotating systems in industrial manufacturing.
• Experience with installation, troubleshooting, inspection and repair of compressors, turbines, blowers, and heat exchangers.
• Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance for industrial equipment.
• Ability to perform precision alignment on multi-train equipment using precision measuring devices.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and lead or participate on teams.
• Strong documentation and record-keeping skills; proficient with standard software (MS Office, E-Mail).
• Experience using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

Responsibilities

• Plan and perform major equipment installation, maintenance, overhauls, and inspections on mechanical and rotating systems.
• Maintain pumps, turbines, and motors; service heat exchangers and chillers.
• Provide on-site or remote technical support and guidance to regional sites.
• Assist in turnaround planning and mechanical work cost estimation.
• Identify and resolve chronic mechanical asset issues and support root cause analysis for major failures.
• Travel approximately 30 percent domestically and work in field and office settings.

What you will enjoy doing*

• In this role, you will plan and perform major equipment installation, maintenance, overhauls, and inspections, including corrective, preventative, or predictive work on industrial mechanical and rotating systems and equipment such as centrifugal, reciprocating, and screw compressors
• Further, you will manage maintenance and repairs of centrifugal and positive displacement pumps
• Service turbines and synchronous and induction motors
• Maintain high-speed gearboxes is part of your role
• You will oversee heat exchangers, cryogenic interchangers, chillers, and cooling towers
• Work on piping systems and other related process equipment
• Provide on-site or remote technical support and guidance to regional sites
• Assist in turnaround planning and mechanical work cost estimation
• Identify and resolve chronic mechanical asset issues (bad actors)
• You will support root cause analysis programs for major equipment failures
• Address high-impact issues with urgency and integrity
• This position requires a combination of office and field work responsibilities with approximately 30 percent domestic travel
• And you will maintain accessibility during off-hours as required
• Work in various weather conditions and access elevated equipment using ladders, scaffolding, man-lifts, and crane baskets

What makes you great

• You have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the maintenance of mechanical and rotating systems and equipment in an industrial manufacturing environment
• Experience in installation, troubleshooting, inspection and repairs of industrial mechanical and rotating systems and equipment such as Compressors, Turbines, Blowers and Heat Exchangers
• Moreover, you have knowledge of Preventive and Predictive maintenance of industrial mechanical and rotating systems and equipment
• Ability to use precision measuring devices and perform precision alignment on multi-train equipment
• Excellent communication and team interaction skills
• Ability to work independently as well as lead/participate on teams
• You have experience as a self-starter who manages multiple tasks, achieves results with minimal supervision and possesses excellent documentation and record-keeping skills
• Experience in computers and standard software packages (MS Office, E-Mail etc.) is required
• Experience using a computerized maintenance management system
