Starting Pay Rate: $34.38 per hour
Responsibilities
- Work a weekend shift on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM (30‑minute unpaid lunch).
- Perform fabrication, assembly, installation, diagnosis, repair, and modification on hydraulic, pneumatic, refrigeration, vacuum, and gas systems associated with test equipment.
- Conduct functional and operational tests to evaluate new or repaired units.
- Coordinate with engineers in planning, laying out, and making mechanical modifications to test positions and units according to accepted standard practice.
- Create supplementary sketches or diagrams to aid mechanical modifications.
- Write reports of all tests and recommend refinements in test equipment and maintenance procedures.
- Carry out periodic preventive maintenance as directed.
- Perform brazing, soft and silver soldering, minor sheet‑metal work incidental to the primary duties.
- Use hand tools—micrometers, dial calipers, indicators, height gauges—and operate portable power tools and machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, pedestal grinders, drill presses, band saws, and belt sanders.
- Work from primary design drawings, prints, schematic flow diagrams, sketches, and verbal or written instructions requiring interpretation and application of shop theory.
- Perform related computer and clerical functions such as operating the shop‑floor control system, documenting equipment scheduling and maintenance records, requesting supplies, and reporting machines for repair.
- Rework, refurbish, and modify parts and equipment as required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).
- Must be able to work any designated shift, including overnight.
- Three (3) years experience in layout, fabrication, assembly, checking, and testing of hydraulic, vacuum, pneumatic, and refrigeration mechanical and electromechanical equipment.
- Proficient machine shop skills—including setting up and operating conventional lathes, mills, drills, and pedestal grinders.
- Experience working from blueprints, primary design drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions.
- Ability to visualize and determine the most practical fabrication of apparatus or equipment and materials to be assembled.
- Must pass qualifying and/or practical test.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance prior to start. U.S. citizenship required for clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an ATF clearance.
