Job summary

Amarillo Gear Company LLC, part of Marmon Holdings and Berkshire Hathaway, invites skilled assemblers to join our manufacturing team. You will contribute to refurbishment and assembly of gearboxes and components in a fast-paced, safety‑driven environment.

You’ll read blueprints, operate micrometers and depth mics, use overhead cranes and forklifts, perform quality inspections, document defects, and support continuous improvement with teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3–5 years of mechanical assembly experience, gearbox preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work in a team environment to accomplish goals.
• Use handheld precision measuring tools such as micrometers and depth mics.
• Perform quality work inspections to ensure product meets quality standards.
• Identify defects and document findings when defects are identified.
• Rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products according to engineering specification.
• Maintain safety procedures and a clean 5S work area.

SCOPE

Assemble gearboxes and component parts for refurbishment and assembly.

SPECIAL SKILLS/ Requirements

• Operate overhead crane and forklift.
• Use hand held power, hand held precision measuring and manual tools.
• Read, interpret and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble gearboxes/products.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Working knowledge of mechanical components/assemblies to suggest improvements.
• Ability to work accurately and thoroughly in a timely manner, while maintaining safety as a priority.
• Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem and to think in such a way as to produce a new concept or idea.
• Ability to lift and/or push 25 pounds, stand, bend, and squat with repetitive movements for 8 hours.
• High attention to detail and self-motivation skills.
• Work overtime on an as needed basis.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE
