Job summary

Penn State University is seeking a Mechanical Research and Development Engineer for the Advanced Design & Analysis Department at ARL. You will perform modeling, CAD development, and laboratory validation while collaborating with senior engineers and supporting integrated system architectures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or science.
  • 5+ years of mechanical R&D experience.
  • Able to work in DoD-related environment with security requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Model system and structural behavior using analytical and computational methods.
  • Develop detailed CAD designs and assemblies.
  • Conduct laboratory testing to validate models and designs.
  • Script in MATLAB/Python to support analyses and simulations.
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate across disciplines.
