Job description

Purpose of Position

Mechanical Quality Inspector plays a key role in maintaining our commitment to quality and safety. This position is responsible for performing inspections and testing at various stages of the production process to ensure products meet customer specifications and internal quality standards.

Rate depends on experience.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities
  • Perform in-process and final inspections on the production floor and completed units.
  • Conduct quality checks as assigned, including in-process inspections, final product inspections, gauge sign-in/out for production use.
  • Assist in customer-required testing procedures, such as sound testing, water testing, operational/run testing.
  • Support production by addressing engineering and customer-related quality concerns.
  • Maintain inventory of quality-related materials (e.g., tags, zip ties, documentation).
  • Use and maintain measuring tools and inspection instruments.
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality procedures and safety standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager or their designer.
Minimum Education

High School Diploma or GED required.

Physical Requirements
  • Job requires being on your feet for extended periods while conducting inspections on the production floor and completed houses.
  • Ability to handle small tools, gauges, and equipment for inspection tasks, including signing in/out of gauges, point-to-point testing, and other precision tasks.
  • May need to lift and carry items related to Quality Assurance materials (e.g., zip ties, tags, and paperwork) which could weigh up to 25 lbs. or more, depending on the task.
  • Position may require occasional climbing or using stairs to inspect houses or areas of the production floor that are not at ground level.
  • Inspections may require bending, stooping, or kneeling to assess products or components at various stages of production.
  • Must work in a factory or production environment, which may involve exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and other industrial conditions.
  • Job may involve repetitive tasks, such as inspecting electrical wiring or working with equipment, requiring consistent hand‑eye coordination.
  • Must maintain focus and attention to detail even in potentially noisy or busy environments while performing inspections and assessments.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate issues or concerns with production personnel and management, both verbally and in writing.
  • Position involves working in various conditions, including indoor and outdoor environments, exposure to dust, dirt, heat, cold, and occasionally working at heights or in confined spaces.
