Job summary

ARCO is hiring a QA/QC Engineer to support testing, startup, setup, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems on design/build projects. The role focuses on field commissioning, coordinating with vendors and trades, and ensuring systems meet design intent and safety standards.

Ideal candidates have 2–5 years of experience in mechanical operations, startup, and commissioning, with strong problem-solving and communication skills. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering tech., Construction Engineering, or related technical field preferred; equivalent education or experience considered.
• 2–5 years of experience in mechanical systems operations, startup, commissioning support, service, troubleshooting, construction, or building operations.
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of HVAC and mechanical building systems (chilled water, condenser water, pumping, air distribution).
• Familiar with mechanical equipment such as chillers, pumps, cooling towers, AHUs, CRAHs, CRACs, VFDs, valves and instrumentation.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, equipment submittals, sequences of operation.
• Strong mechanical problem-solving skills and collaboration with teams and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Support startup, setup, testing, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems and controls.
• Assist with pre-startup readiness reviews for equipment installation and controls integration.
• Participate in vendor startup activities for chillers, pumps, AHUs, CRAHs, CRACs and related equipment.
• Execute pre-functional checklists, startup forms, and functional test procedures.
• Verify systems operate per design, specs, and sequences of operation.
• Troubleshoot field issues with subcontractors, vendors, and engineers.
• Document deficiencies and actions clearly for project records.
• Support commissioning meetings, planning, and turnover activities.
• Communicate findings to project managers and senior staff.
