Job summary

Cornell Pump Company, LLC in Clackamas, OR is seeking a Mechanical Pump Builder to assemble pump components with precision and care. This hands-on role requires mechanical aptitude and the use of tools to meet tight specifications and quality standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and install parts based on pump specifications and work instructions.
  • Use impact guns, wrenches, bolts, rivets, and other fasteners to secure components.
  • Safely operate cranes and other lifting equipment to assist with assembly.
  • Fit components to close tolerances to meet operating requirements.
  • Install bearings, fit key shafts, and perform pump-to-motor alignment on bases.

The hourly pay range is from $24.00 - $28.00 (DOE)

Summary Description

As a Mechanical Pump Builder, you will play a key role in our production process by accurately building pump components with precision and care. Using your mechanical aptitude and attention to detail, you will follow work instructions to build high-quality products that meet strict performance standards. This hands‑on role requires experience with tools, equipment, and mechanical processes, as well as a commitment to safety, teamwork, and efficiency.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Assemble and install parts based on pump specifications and work instructions.
  • Use impact guns, wrenches, bolts, rivets, and other fasteners to secure components.
  • Safely operate cranes and other lifting equipment to assist with assembly.
  • Fit components to close tolerances to meet operating requirements.
  • Install bearings into components, fit key shafts, and perform pump-to-motor alignment on bases
  • Cut and bend tubing as required.
  • Conduct air tests using flanges and perform final inspections to ensure quality and performance.
  • Use hand tools, air tools, and precision measuring devices (depth gauge, feeler gauges, dial calipers).
  • Interpret blueprints
  • Operate stand‑up forklifts and overhead cranes (rigging experience a plus).
  • Maintain timeliness, cleanliness, and a strong sense of teamwork.
EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
  • Mechanical aptitude and mechanical experience (required)
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
