Job summary

Cornell Pump Company is seeking a mechanical engineer to lead projects developing new pump product lines. You will coordinate with stakeholders, perform mechanical design and analysis of centrifugal pumps, and integrate electrical drivers and motors to meet specifications.

Our manufacturing facilities located in Clackamas, OR, Vancouver, WA, and Rock Hill, SC allow us to serve diverse markets such as Agriculture, Industrial, Municipal, Rental, and Mining.


Responsibilities


  • Manage & support projects to develop new product lines that serve the company’s strategic growth initiatives.

  • Work with key stakeholders to develop project proposals, including market research, feasibility studies, scope definition, cost estimates, and development schedules.

  • Coordinate and perform mechanical design & analysis of centrifugal pumps, pump packages, fabricated components, and related metallurgical requirements.

  • Integrate pump drivers, specifically VFDs & electric motors.

  • Navigate, coordinate, and apply governing standards and certification requirements to meet application specifications.

  • Coordinate sourcing efforts to support the NPD process, evaluating and communicating with suppliers regarding goals, deadlines, technical challenges, pricing, and delivery.

  • Work autonomously and with other engineers to design, schedule, coordinate, and perform all required product testing for pump packages and electric drivers.

  • Utilize knowledge of pressure transducers, flow meters, vibration accelerometers, and other rotating equipment sensors, data acquisition, control systems, and integrated condition monitoring.

  • Provide dealer, end‑user, and sales staff training in product application and maintenance.

  • Provide technical support to sales, manufacturing, field troubleshooting, product application, value engineering, and problem‑solving.

  • Investigate causes of reported field problems, including warranty requests for failed products (may require travel).


Qualifications


  • 2+ years of experience with proven proficiency in project management, mechanical function, and assembly of pump packages, electric motors, & VFDs (highly preferred).

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering (required).

  • Strong background in integrated electrical/mechanical assembly design.

  • SolidWorks proficiency (equivalent 3D modeling software experience will be considered).

  • Strong mechanical inclination and experience with hand and power tools and large, complex assemblies.


Certificates and Licenses


  • FE/EIT (preferred).

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) (preferred).

  • SolidWorks training/certificates (CSWA, CSWP, etc.) (preferred).
