Job summary

Shambaugh & Son in Indiana is seeking a Mechanical Project Manager to pre-plan and manage Mission Critical / Data Center construction projects, with healthcare and hospital work as needed. Coordinate design and field teams to ensure scope, schedule, and budget compliance.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong knowledge of mechanical and plumbing systems, and experience with MS Project, change orders, and subcontractor management.

Qualifications

  • Five years of Project Management or Project Engineering experience preferred.
  • Experience managing $1–5 million projects.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and plumbing systems.
  • Experience monitoring labor performance and tracking progress.
  • Ability to read plans for ordering material and estimating change orders.
  • Ability to order, track and expedite timely delivery of MEP items.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Self-motivated with minimal supervision.
  • Strong customer orientation and teamwork.
  • Regular and reliable attendance, including extended hours when required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain up-to-date change order, subcontractor, RFI, and contingency logs.
  • Review mechanical drawings and specs for inconsistencies and clarity.
  • Prepare, review, approve, and submit submittals for materials and equipment.
  • Manage subcontractors to ensure on-time installation per plan.
  • Attend project coordination meetings to keep work on schedule.
  • Walk sites with stakeholders to verify compliance and remediation as needed.
  • Track equipment deliveries and support installations and startup.
  • Participate in job tracking and earned value management reporting.
  • Submit accurate estimates and change orders in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with purchasing, subcontractors, and fabricators to secure scope and price.
  • Promote and enforce a safe working environment.
  • Satisfy customers to develop repeat business.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Job Summary

Shambaugh & Son is looking for a Mechanical Project Manager. In this role you will pre-plan and manage Mission Critical / Data Center construction projects. When this work is not available, you will work on hospital, healthcare, and other construction projects.#shambaugh #LI-TS #LI-onsite

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintain up-to-date change order, subcontractor, RFI, and contingency logs.
  • Review mechanical drawings and specifications looking for inconsistencies, thoroughness, potential issues, and to obtain an understanding of project.
  • Prepare, review, approve, and submit material and equipment submittals.
  • Manage sub-contractors, ensuring their work is being performed on-time and installed according to project details and specifications.
  • Attend project coordination meetings to ensure our work is not being impeded, can be installed according to plan, and on time.
  • Walk the site with stakeholders to review work and ensure we\'re in compliance with the design, and help implement any necessary remediation.
  • Track equipment deliveries and help manage equipment installations and start-up.
  • Participate in job tracking, manpower use, and earned value management reporting.
  • Consistently submit accurate, timely, and complete estimates and change order quotations.
  • Communicate with purchasing, subcontractors, and fabrication shops to secure schedule, scope and price.
  • Promote and enforce a safe working environment
  • Satisfy customers’ needs to develop repeat business.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Five years of Project Management, or Project Engineering experience preferred.
  • Experience managing $1-5 million projects
  • Knowledge of mechanical and plumbing systems
  • Experience monitoring labor performance and tracking progress.
  • Knowledge in generating and updating construction schedules using MS Project.
  • Ability to read plans for ordering material and estimating change orders.
  • Ability to order, track, and expedite timely delivery of MEP items.
  • Excellent communicator in both written and verbal forms.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working under minimal supervision
  • Highly customer oriented.
  • Team player with the ability to motivate others.
  • Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours, off shift, or on weekends when required.
