Job summary

Shambaugh & Son is seeking a Mechanical Project Manager to pre-plan and manage Mission Critical / Data Center construction projects in Indiana. When data center work is unavailable, you will work on hospital, healthcare, and other construction projects.

You will lead multi-disciplinary teams, review drawings, manage submittals, coordinate subcontractors, and drive on-time delivery while maintaining quality and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Five years of Project Management or Project Engineering experience preferred.
  • Experience managing $1-5 million projects.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and plumbing systems.
  • Experience monitoring labor performance and tracking progress.
  • Knowledge in generating and updating construction schedules using MS Project.
  • Ability to read plans for ordering material and estimating change orders.
  • Ability to order, track, and expedite timely delivery of MEP items.
  • Excellent communicator in both written and verbal forms.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working under minimal supervision.
  • Highly customer oriented.
  • Team player with the ability to motivate others.
  • Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours, off shift, or on weekends when required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain up-to-date change order, subcontractor, RFI, and contingency logs.
  • Review mechanical drawings and specifications looking for inconsistencies, thoroughness, potential issues, and to obtain an understanding of project.
  • Prepare, review, approve, and submit material and equipment submittals.
  • Manage sub-contractors, ensuring their work is being performed on-time and installed according to project details and specifications.
  • Attend project coordination meetings to ensure our work is not being impeded, can be installed according to plan, and on time.
  • Walk the site with stakeholders to review work and ensure we're in compliance with the design, and help implement any necessary remediation.
  • Track equipment deliveries and help manage equipment installations and start-up.
  • Participate in job tracking, manpower use, and earned value management reporting.
  • Consistently submit accurate, timely, and complete estimates and change order quotations.
  • Communicate with purchasing, subcontractors, and fabrication shops to secure schedule, scope and price.
  • Promote and enforce a safe working environment
  • Satisfy customers’ needs to develop repeat business.
  • Other duties as required.

Job Summary
