KODIAK Construction Recruiting & Staffing is seeking a Mechanical Project Manager to lead all mechanical construction activities on assigned projects, including HVAC, piping, and associated systems. You will oversee planning, staffing, procurement coordination, scheduling, and client communication to ensure successful project turnover.

The ideal candidate has 8-15+ years in industrial construction, with strong leadership, safety, and budget management skills, and experience with EPC contractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent industrial construction experience.
• 8-15+ years of industrial construction experience.
• 5+ years managing mechanical construction projects.
• Experience with EPC contractors preferred.
• Experience on data centers strongly preferred.
• Experience on industrial megaprojects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical construction activities from project kickoff through turnover.
• Develop and execute project execution plans.
• Ensure project objectives are achieved safely and efficiently.

Job description

The Mechanical Project Manager serves as the primary leader for all mechanical construction activities on assigned projects. This individual oversees planning, execution, staffing, subcontractor performance, budgeting, client communication, procurement coordination, scheduling, and project closeout.

The successful candidate possesses extensive experience managing mechanical scopes on large industrial or mission-critical projects including HVAC systems, chilled water systems, process piping, plumbing, fire protection, equipment setting, structural coordination, commissioning support, and startup.

This position requires a leader capable of managing multiple stakeholders while driving safety, quality, productivity, and financial performance.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical construction activities from project kickoff through turnover
• Develop and execute project execution plans
• Ensure project objectives are achieved safely and efficiently
• Establish project priorities and communicate expectations clearly
• Lead project meetings with clients, subcontractors, engineering teams, and field supervision
• Maintain ownership of project deliverables throughout the lifecycle

Construction Management

Manage all mechanical installation activities including:

• HVAC systems, Chilled water systems, Condenser water systems, Mechanical piping
• Plumbing systems, Fire protection systems, Utility piping, Equipment installation
• Cooling systems, Pump systems, Mechanical rooms, Process piping
• Hydronic systems, Pressure testing, Equipment setting and alignment
• Mechanical commissioning support
• Project budgets, Cost forecasting, Labor forecasting, Productivity tracking
• Daily client communication, Weekly progress meetings, Executive reporting
• Schedule updates, Budget discussions, Issue resolution, Scope clarification
• Risk mitigation, Relationship management
• Applicable building codes, ASME standards, ASTM standards
• Inspection plans, Mechanical testing, Punch lists, Turnover documentation
• Commissioning support, Final acceptance
• Long-lead equipment, Mechanical materials, Vendor schedules

Field Leadership

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
• Equivalent industrial construction experience considered
• 8-15+ years of industrial construction experience
• 5+ years managing mechanical construction projects
• Experience with EPC contractors preferred
• Experience on data centers strongly preferred
• Experience on industrial megaprojects preferred

Required Technical Experience

Demonstrated experience managing:

• HVAC systems, Chilled water plants, Cooling towers, Process piping
• Utility piping, Plumbing systems, Mechanical equipment installation
• Large bore piping, Mechanical rooms, Industrial facilities

Preferred experience includes

• Mission Critical facilities
• Semiconductor facilities
• LNG facilities

Strong knowledge of

• Mechanical construction methods, Industrial piping, Welding procedures
• Hydrotesting, Mechanical codes, Commissioning, Scheduling software
• Procore, BIM coordination
