Job summary

Highland Consulting Group is recruiting for an experienced Assistant Project Manager or Project Engineer in the Baltimore, MD area. The role focuses on commercial/industrial mechanical projects involving piping, plumbing, and HVAC/sheet metal.

You will support the Project Manager across all phases, manage submittals and RFIs, negotiate change orders, and help control budgets and schedules. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in an AP Manager-like role on large-scale projects, strong communication,

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience as an Assistant Project Manager or similar in commercial/industrial mechanical projects.
• Solid verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to establish timelines and budgets.
• Experience in cost estimation and negotiating.
• Ability to lead multi-disciplinary meetings.
• Proven track record of career stability and project management success.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager in managing and supervising all phases of assigned projects.
• Manage the submittal process.
• Respond to or create RFIs as needed.
• Assist in negotiating change orders and maintain logs.
• Assist in budget management and expense approval.
• Interface with the Owner on projects.
• Assemble and maintain project records and close-out documents.
• Prepare and manage schedules.
• Coordinate punch-list inspections with superintendent and Owner’s Representative.
• Contract administration.
• Assist in Buyout of subcontracts and equipment.
