Job summary

Domtar, a leading producer of pulp, paper, packaging, tissue and wood products, seeks a Mechanical Project Engineer for the Howe Sound Mill. You will drive CapEx and major maintenance projects, lead cross‑functional teams, and ensure safety, schedule and budget adherence from planning through closeout.

The role partners with operations, maintenance, engineering, procurement and contractors to deliver reliable asset performance and long‑term improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical preferred.
• Registered as an Engineer‑In‑Training or Professional Engineer with a Canadian association (EGBC preferred).
• PMI PMP designation is an asset.
• Co‑op/internship in pulp & paper or mining is preferred.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
• Experience with ASME B31.1/B31.3/Section VIII codes and API codes preferred.
• Experience with SAP.
• Strong written and verbal communication; excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare budget costs for CapEx projects.
• Develop scope, schedule, and procurement for maintenance and CapEx.
• PM of maintenance and CapEx projects per PMBOK principles.
• Annual inspection of fall protection anchor points.
• Owner acceptance review of third‑party civil/structural drawings.
• Coordinate with registered professionals for forest road work per guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with HSPP, WSBC and regulations for design and safety.
